About the Artist
David is a senior undergraduate student here at CSULB looking to obtain his BFA. He is into EDM dubstep and hard rock music. Just like many people, he commutes to school form the city of Westminster!
His work is very fluid. There seems to be a lot of curves, but nothing to straight or edged. This gives the his work the sense of movement happening in his art. His work seems to be “flowing” or changing like he describes how dubstep works.
His goal in his art is to try to make his art uncertain in a way but still recognizable. When looking at one of his paintings, he has a piece with a red samurai mask and that their helmets represent demons to intimidate enemies. He explains that he never wants to be stuck or confined to corporate wants so that is why he chose to be an artist, to produce his own work.
Synthesis / My Experience
When I first saw his work I was amused by the flow of his work. When interviewing him he compared his work to dubstep and hard rock. Both these type of music have an interesting flow to it and have unexpected beats. When I look at his pieces it reminds me of dubstep, so I can see how he is influenced in his work!
