Artist: Alice Andreini
Gallery: CSULB School of Art
About the Artist:
Alice Andreini is a graduate student here at CSULB in drawing and painting. She started to learn about 6 years ago and started going to school for it for about 3 years. SAfter she graduates, she still plans to continue to paint as a hobby. She also likes to hike. She likes to read poetry and literature as hobbies on her free time and her favorite author is Virginia Wolf.
Adreini starts with the suspicion of her own perspective or perception and thinks about how we are very unaware of these constructs that define the way we perceive things. She believes that cell phones are a big part in how we look at time. She uses landscapes as a construct because they are stimulated and even when they’re natural, there are structures imposed on them.
This artist is interested in how people visualize and imagine spatial illusions. She is not hte type of artist that is not inspired by beauty but is more intrigued by the questions related to nature. She really loves to paint but just needs more free time to paint.
I think I enjoed speaking with Adreini and looking over her art because each piece was constant and pleasing, in a sense that they were very identical to each other. I love the fact that she enjoys nature because nature is truly our escape from the city in my opinion.
